Toyota Says It's Cars Are Cheap Enough - Won't Offer Low Cost Brand To Consumers
Toyota Motor has no intention of offering ultra-cheap cars to boost sales in emerging markets and will keep its focus on customers who expect a certain level of reliability, the company's president, Akio Toyoda, said on Thursday.

Toyoda's comments come days after rival Nissan Motor announced the revival of the Datsun brand to target buyers in the lowest and sizeable end of developing markets, while a German magazine reported Volkswagen was also planning a similar move.

Well that is why Scion was started. Priced lower for a younger demographic that did not want to drive a Toyota. Using Toyota purchasing power and excess plant assembly and you have a Scion.

I agree. Toyota needs to expand the vehicle line up for Scion. The new FR-S is a good start but they need more depth because the only other model I know of is the TC.

Toyota is such a lame brand. Wake me up when they start building 300hp sports cars again. I expected more from toyota than a Hard-Top Miata. What a lame brand.
