Obama Heralds New Fuel Standards But Fails To Mention Added Expense Of Getting There
President Barack Obama said the U.S. auto industry is building safer, more attractive vehicles.

In an interview released Friday with a public relations executive for the driver-advocacy and insurer AAA, Obama said new fuel-efficient vehicles aren't compromises.

Obama has repeatedly touted the fact that the fuel efficiency increases set for 2012-2025 will save the average driver more than $8,000 in fuel - but he never mentions the fact that his administration estimates the increases will add about $3,000 to the price of a new vehicle over today's prices.

By this logic if you never go anywhere, I guess your saving gas money.
Who pays for the gas in the limo ?

Anyone above five who doesn't know, nothing in life is free or that you pay for every option on a vehicle needs a reality check, the auto comp will get there money back up front, and the owner will have to keep their car until they do. For me driving 92 miles a day 45mpg hybrid 10mnths

I have a suggestion, levy a $4.00 a gallon federal tax on gas. That way all the folks who live in the republican middle of the country and drive gigantic pick-ups and SUVs and drive so many more miles than those on the coasts will have to pay more tax. Don't mandate fuel economy - instead let the truly rich continue to buy gas-guzzlers and destroy the environment. The trailer-trash will have to move to the cities or buy more sensible vehicles.

Another benefit of this is of course that more people would pay something towards Federal Taxes, so much in fact we could slash corporate taxes and potentially boost employment that way.
