Legendary Italian auto design house Pininfarina, famed creators of iconic cars for Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Rolls-Royce and more, have announced their first residential project in the US.

The company, founded in 1930 as Carrozzeria Pininfarina by automobile designer and builder Battista “Pinin” Farina, has signed on to create interiors for real estate behemoth Related Group’s upcoming 1100 Millecento Residences project in Miami.

I used to love Pininfarina. Their work with *previous* generation Ferraris spoke volumes on how they could produce the most beautiful automotive coach-work, bar none. Today's Pininfarina is a different animal, adopting swoopy, impossibly long headlights, hood lines that look like the don't fit, tail lights that look "stuck on" instead of being cohesively integrated into the form...it all speaks to me of a company that has lost it's way, much like the previous generation of BMWs.

I look forward to a time when Pininfarina designs bodies that make me stop in awe at their timeless beauty.
