We can reveal that BMW is set to unleash a sporty three-door coupé which will blend the company's reputation for building exciting drivers' cars with low prices like never before.

Called the Z2, the machine revealed here will spearhead a new class of desirable, affordable coupés, and it's set to go head-to-head with Volkswagen's new Scirocco.

This is the new baby BMW many sports car fans have been waiting for. Based on the 1-Series platform, the rear-wheel-drive, front-engined model will be available as either a coupé or roadster, and both variants will offer a competitively priced alternative to the next-generation Z4 sports models.

Looks like BMW is starting to go down the quantity road, which may lead to a bit of unbalanced from the quality road. How many times can you stick one engine in a different body style.

They just have their numbers all messed up....2 comes after 3 from which you get 4! Why don't they just call it the Z1?

HA HA, now that's funny! Z1, How many jokes could you make off of that.

The market really dosen't NEED another 2 seat roadster in the sub 40k segment....

BMW, Porsche, Audi and MB need to realize their niche. They are trying to build a vehicle for every segment, which will dilute their status and eventually take them to the level of GM and Toyota. The last thing they should do is saturate the market. At some point in time, one of the main reasons for buying one dissapears.

Who says that this Z2 might even make it to the US? It probably won't and is only for Europe and Asia, which make less of a fuss about brand image than us.
