How Is The Industry Going To Get The Internet Generation Interested In Cars?

More young adults would rather surf the Web than cruise around in a car, researchers at the University of Michigan said in a study.

The university's Transportation Research Institute in Ann Arbor, Mich., found that having a higher proportion of Internet users in the United States is associated with lower licensure rates among young people.

The trend also is apparent in other countries. Researchers found that Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Norway and South Korea had the same decrease in young drivers and an increase in older drivers.

Simple: Target the people who are actually buying the cars...the kids' parents!

Besides not having any interest in cars, these kids don't have the *money* to get one, either. They're living at mom and dad's place, with free room and board, and McJobs for income, which pays just enough to save up for an iPhone, iPad, and whatever else is *really* important to them.

It is going to have to make them more affordable. Wages have been stagnant for 30 years, people's expenses are rising. That doesn't leave much room for a car.
