Latest news on upcoming Honda diesels

Honda plans to introduce a clean-burning, 2.2-liter turbodiesel in the United States within three years.

"That 2.2 could probably crank out about 200 horsepower and about 220 [pounds-feet of] torque at little rpm," Watts said recently. "Vehicles like the Pilot [SUV] and Odyssey [minivan] are too big for a four-cylinder."

Honda sells a 2.2-liter, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine in Europe, but Watts said it does not meet U.S. emission standards. Takeo Fukui, CEO of Honda Motor Co., said in late June that the company will unveil a four-cylinder diesel in the United States that will run as clean as a gasoline engine.

Finally we see Japanese going diesel in US, especially Honda. Maybe Toyota will follow suit if it can get away from the Hybrid addiction

Referring to my first comment. Hybrids are not bad, they are more of what the future holds. However they aren't exactly what they promise to be and that is a money saver. Yes they do get better gas mileage than their non-hybrid counterparts, but the premium that one has to pay to buy the hybrid eliminates much of the difference. I have read on some magazines and automotive websites that person who owns a hybrid will really start saving money after about 4 years of ownership. That seems a long time to wait to save a few bucks.

Also, hybrids have much lower real life milage than other cars. When the new EPA rating system comes out, I expect hybrid milage to drop more than other cars (same thing with those cylinder shut off engines which have been proven to save no fuel)

Yeah the hybrids are slow. The EPA mileage is not what people are getting in real life. The power in diesels is much better than any economy hybrid car (Prius & Civic).
Also Huu I know Toyota has diesels abroad, I have driven the Corolla, Hilux, and Land Cruiser. I want Toyota to bring a nice Diesel to the US. They may bring one late, like always.
