Maybe the next gen MQB version. Still a tough case in the US with the Beetle and 3 door GTI/Golf versions already available.

Golf Rs are AWD. Scirocco Rs are FWD. Other than that and the skin they're the same, though.

I agree with the 2 comments above. However I do see the point of a Scirocco here. The Golf R is really in a different class and price point.With it's awd it is really knocking on Audi's door. If I were VW I would only offer then 4dr GTI's and R's to further differentiate it from the Scirocco.I think that VW should price the base 220HP(based on the upcoming GTI engine)at around 26 to 27K or 1/2 way in price between a GTI and an R.With wider front and rear tracks and a lower ride height it would be VW's true sports car.
