The new Audi TT coupe to sport first of its kind navigation screen?

I don't know how I missed this one but while I was looking at some photos of the new Audi TT coupe, I noticed the navigation screen was completely different from what I'd seen before.

It has a much wider screen aspect ratio than anything else on the market.

You can seen that it's wider but not as tall as most of the other nav units in cars today.

Is this the beginning of a trend and can we expect to see this screen on our favorite BMW's, Mercedes and Porsche's?

Only time will tell...

Dabman- yes this is euro navigation but they color american will have to fit in the same space

This may not sit well with NAV freaks, and I use that term on a friendly side all. For those that really like the NAV systems, the bigger and clearer the screen the better. Although Audi might be able to have the clear and sharpness down, if the screen is not sized right it won't matter.

When it comes down to it, the system will be a really nice one, just too small for the majority.

Dude if you haven't figured it out yet Audi probably has Bosch or someone make the GPS for them, so it would not be an issue with audi figuring it out. BTW resolution and clarity in a screen has not been an issue since the advent of the PDA about a decade ago.

That's stupid, when you are driving you need the map to be longer vertically so you can see what is comming up. Who cares what is four blocks to the left or right of you unless you're going to make a turn...but even then, I'd rather see what is comming up. And the monochrome color makes it look really cheap.

That is one part of the new TT that I don't really like. It does look weird and small. The cocept car for the TT had a big screen. I think that a full size screen will come when the TT comes here.

The new TT is beautiful. But the screen does bother me just a little, but hopefully it grows on me.

PlanoA4 - All I'm saying is that if you take a look at the NAV screens that are on the market in competitive cars to the TT, it's smaller. Now, this being AS I will say that the screen is going to be too small for the majority of Americans. As for the rest of the world it will probably be fine.

You know, us stupid american's and our need for everything to be big. :)

Have to agree with caffeinetrip, vertical resolution is much more important then horizontal when navigating. The further ahead the GPS/Mapping system will show me, while not having to be zoomed way out, the better.

This nav screen may have the better resolution or whatever, but it is not tall enough. It seems small, even though it may be bigger, and a change to the aspect ratio is needed.
