Next Gen G37 To Share Mercedes C-Class Platform And Powertrain - Is There A 500HP Version In The Works?
The alliance deal between Daimler and Renault-Nissan appears to be much further-reaching than initially thought, with the two automakers expected to share engines, platforms and perhaps even manufacturing facilities in the future.

According to a new report, another platform that will be shared will be the rear-wheel drive architecture destined for the next-generation Mercedes-Benz C Class.

I really hate this merge! Why get rid of the great VQ engines for stinking MB V6s?

The current VQ is a joke. Rough and unrefined because it has been BEATEN TO DEATH with constant engine capacity increases and little modifications in regards to refinement and actual performance.

The new Mercedes 3.5 V6 is a gem in case you have not read most reviews.

Designer1 before whinning please read the article! This is going to be a great automobile.

"Power in the new G is expected to come from an updated VQ V-6 engine, though a four-cylinder diesel sourced from Mercedes-Benz will also be offered. The diesel, which hasn’t been confirmed for the U.S., is tipped to be the 2.1-liter four-cylinder found in various Mercedes models including the recently launched 2013 GLK250 BlueTEC. A hybrid model will also be launched using a similar powertrain to the one found in the M35h.

Finally, the source revealed details about a high-performance IPL model with 530 horsepower onboard. Designed to go up against luxury sports models like the BMW M3 and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, the new IPL Infiniti G will feature a unique twin-turbocharged 3.7-liter V-6 engine. This engine will be manufactured alongside the Nissan GT-R’s 3.8-liter unit at the automaker’s performance center in Tochigi, Japan.

The VQ is an amazing engine when mated to a manual. The Infiniti Automatics and electronic throttle are super sensitive and timed too aggressively.

As for the horrible mileage claims, I got great mileage from my VQ as long as I kept it under 75 mph and stayed on a nice, flowing freeway. I agree that city mileage was pretty bad, but most medium to large displacement engines are.

I owned a G35 sedan since 2007, and in my opinion it's the best looking Infiniti. It really deserves a new fresh look but it shouldn't depart completely from the current one. I did 81 thousands miles without any problems except for a dead battery one day, and it was my fault. The car never rattle or made strange noises and its build quality is really good, I own and owned other cars like Merecedes, Lexus and Porsche and its not inferior like many would think.
Yes the engine is thirsty a bit, but I also wasn't easy on the throttle, I used to drive at 100mph in the highways where my most trips happen. I am curious to know what will happen to this car.

I bet MB will also use the VQ. It would be a plus for MB, the VQ is one of the best V6's ever.
