Agent 001 Gears Up To Drive One Of This Year's MOST Exciting Products - 2013 Ford Escape - FIRST Shots Live
Though exciting and Ford Escape may not have previously been placed next to each other, that all changed when Ford rolled out the Vertrek Concept at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. That instant, Agent 001 knew that the Vertrek was merely the next-generation Ford Escape with a different name.
As he tends to be, he was right.
Fast forward to present day and 001 has arrived in San Francisco to drive the car we've been VERY interested in. Though there have been some slight changes from concept to reality, it appears to have stayed largely intact.
Considering how successful the last-generation Escape was, we have big expectations for this

I won't speak on his behalf but I will say there's a bunch of reasons why this product is exciting.
1) WHICH other competitor would you actually own?
- None
2) Previous generation buyers LOVED their Escape
3) It's another high volume product that Ford has prepared properly -- like the Fusion

Seriously, that's an ignorant statement.

I think the new Escape looks great! and it looks much better than its competitors also. The old Escape never even got a second look from me, but this new one is just designed very well.
With that said, I still wouldn't buy one, but I'd definitely request one at the rental car counter!

As the owner of an 08 Escape I can tell you the now old model is quite good. Road noise is more than I would like but that should be fixed in the new model.
But my wife raises the point that it doesn't look like an SUV anymore (one of the things she likes best about our 08). Also she isn't sure how people will respond now that it looks more 'like a minivan'.

I think, overall it looks great, but the profile is very minivan-ey

EVERY Escape owner I've ran into complains about the hideous mpgs it gets. . .
17mpgs!!!
I'm sure the new one is better than that but I'd rather drive my 2001 4Runner that gets 17mpgs!
