Volkswagen Ranked As Largest Automaker In The World By Forbes Magazine

Ten automakers - led by Volkswagen AG - are among the world's largest 100 public companies, according to a survey released Wednesday by Forbes magazine.

The magazine released its list of the world's largest 2,000 companies. Unlike previous lists that used a single metric such as sales, Forbes ranks companies by sales, profits, assets and market value to rank them according to size - and weighs each factor equally.

VW is ranked 17th followed by Toyota Motor Corp., which moved up from 55th to 25th to take the second spot among automakers.
