Scion Dwindles To Only Three Models After Decision To Kill xB and xD

Toyota's Scion brand will jettison its xB boxy compact and xD subcompact hatchback in favor of all-new models, WardsAuto learns.

"We don't have plans for a direct xB or xD replacement," Jack Hollis, vice president-Scion says in an interview during a Scion FR-S media drive here.

Actually I meant the xB or whatever the bigger one is called. Either way I bet there will be a hatchback/wagon replacement.

The xB can't be dropped! It and its oddball attitude was what propelled Scion to success when it was first conceived. The current version lost much of the older version's hipster flair by growing unnecessarily and looking less like a toaster, though. If I were in charge at Scion, I would replace the xB with a much smaller, squarer, quirkier, and sportier urban runabout to keep Scion's street cred going while attracting more of the FR-S enthusiast crowd.
