Baby Boxster Planned To Slot In Under $50K
Could this small roadster bring Porsche’s legendary driving thrills to a new generation of customers – and at a lower price, of less than £30,000?

The sports car maker is preparing a production case for the model, which would sit below the Boxster as a new and more affordable entry point to its range.

With successive generations of the Boxster getting gradually bigger, more powerful and more expensive, now could be the time for Porsche to launch a sports car that costs almost £10,000 less than its existing ‘base’ model.

thats hardly a correct comparison. The entry Porsche would be around 38k US, which puts a comparison car at BMW level not vw. Besides buy Porshe would be based on its racing pedigree and quality of craftsmanship.

cyberlover is absolutely correct. All my buddies that are true Porsche fans (lovers) and actually own 911s don't think of anything else wearing the PORSCHE badge as a "true" PORSCHE. Just ask anyone driving any 911 and you will get the same answer. PORSCHE has decided to trade in the badge for profits, financially it makes sense.
I remember a few years ago mentioning to them about purchasing a CAYMAN and they all jumped on me stating that if I were to get a PORSCHE it MUST be a 911 since "there is no substitute".

No substitute for what, exactly? A 911 is better than the Boxster proportionally to its price, and no more. When you buy a 911, you pay extra for back seats, more power and maybe four-wheel drive. Both are genuine Porsches. Whether this 'baby Boxster' will qualify as such remains to be seen.

blazinboy I do not disagree with you just stating the facts about most 911 owners. They are different breed.

i personally love boxster and cayman, but other guys i speak to who think they know about cars laugh at people who have boxsters and caymans.. they think its a bullshit car cause its not a 911, something lower than a boxster, even less respect on the road.
