Which CEO Deserves The Bigger Paycheck? GM's Akerson Or Ford's Mulally?
General Motors CEO Dan Akerson led the company to record profits in 2011, but he took home a significantly smaller paycheck than Alan Mulally, CEO of rival Ford Motor.

Akerson earned $7.7 million in 2011, GM (GM, Fortune 500) announced in a filing Thursday. Mulally received a pay package worth $29.5 million, according to an earlier filing from Ford, up from $26.5 million in 2010.

GM had a very strong 2011. Besides the record profits, it recaptured its title of global sales leader, finishing with the greatest share in the world's two largest markets, China and the United States.

That's easy. Ford Mulally. He spearheaded Ford to restructure it's debt so it could weather the storm and not go into bankruptsy. He also has
consolidate platforms and brought Euro models to the US. Gm is better but Akerson has not acheived the same success as Mulally.

Let me get this straight, with the economy where it is, and American car manufacturing IN the United States (most are made in either Mexico or Canada) is at an all time low, we are arguing over whether these guys should get 7 or 8 figure salaries for sending US car manufacturing OUT of the US and blaming everything on the auto unions? WTF!

Typical American mindset. Brainwashed shills. CEOs are god and working class Union folks are the enemy. You'll never hear this question asked here; "Who should get paid more? GM employees or Ford Employees?". And if that question were asked here, you would get replies saying that they dont deserve a dime. Americans worship the rich. That's what they've been brainwashed to do.

For the simple reason that I'm actually considering buying a Ford vehicle now...

ggcrash-The question was simply which CEO should get paid more money. Not about the state of the economy or where cars are produced. The fact is Mulally made some good pre-emptive business choices to keep Ford from going bankrupt.Ackerson came in after the fact.

Then the better question would be who's the better CEO.

Ok mini22, I don't think any of them are worth 7 or 8 figure salaries in this economy. Not when plants close and average workers are being laid off, left and right, or having their benefits cut. Being rewarded for putting people out of work or cutting their benefits is beyond insane, actually, taking a government bailout and THEN laying off your workers in the US while cutting the benefits of who is left, is insane! WTF!

I totally agree with ggcrash. I don't understand why these people should get paid more for doing their job. Since they are cutting salaries for everybody else, the CEO should get paid less too.
