Big Mistake? Volkswagen's New CC Style Jetta Might Not Be Offered To US Buyers
Remember that theoretical Golf/Jetta CC four-door-coupe-type substance we reported on last month? Yeah, don’t get your hopes up. We’ve learned from European sources that while approval for the car still looks good—a final decision has yet to be made—it is highly unlikely that the car will make it to U.S. dealers. The reason is simple: The thing would be really expensive, and is expected to cost more to build than our Passat.

They need a gap filler and while the CC style coupe isn't going to be a volume seller it fills a gap.

The only reason the CC sales are down was that the Passat was in between designs last year. There literally wasn't anything but the CC last year in that category. So the sales were up over normal.

VW... Creator of lifeless appliances from Germany. The CC almost took them out of appliance'ville. But that car didn't do anything special outside of looking a little nicer than a Camry. Why do we even bother talking about these boring appliances? It's like talking about a Tercel or a GEO Metro. What's the use?

The Jetta is boring, yes, but can you honestly say the same of the Golf/GTI/R?

"but can you honestly say the same of the Golf/GTI/R?"

- To a certain extent, yes. The Golf is a generic german hatchback. GTI? more of the same. The R? I'll give you that one.

I really like the CC, but it was too big. My Tiguan is actually a hair smaller than my 06 Jetta that I traded. If they make a Jetta sized CC with a TDI for the US, I'll be all over it.

We love our TOUAREG and if I don't get my job transfer to EUROPE in 2013, I will probably trade in my LS 460 for either a 5-Series or the 2014 300HP R (assuming VW actually produces it).
BTW This car on the picture looks extremely nice.

That's a first. You're considering both a large luxosedan and a hot hatch? What exactly are you looking for in whatever you'll replace your LS with?

LexSucks isn't the BMW 3-Series here in the US considered a "generic german" since everyone has one?

"exSucks isn't the BMW 3-Series here in the US considered a "generic german" since everyone has one?"

- I never said that just because a lot of people owns them makes them generic. But to answer your question. The 3-series isn't generic, its a womans car. The Audi A4 is Generic. Its the styling, not the amount sold.

FromThePassengerSeat that's a first? Not really, it's having the means to afford almost any car out in the market which gives me the option to purchase whatever I want. My daughter (our only child) is about to depart this Summer overseas as part of the Rotary Youth Exchange program, in other words my wife an I will be empty nesters.
I love cars and my list is extremely long on what I would like to purchase (M3, 5-Series, new CAYMAN, GOLF R and many others), I have even thought about purchasing another SUV to carry my SUP. Like I have stated before in this site, I do not fall in love with car brands or car types. Unlike people in this country, I purchase what I can comfortably afford.
BTW Do you consider a 5-Series as a large luxosedan? We are not talking about a 7-Series.
