VW Shows Success With Niche' Market Vehicles

Volkswagen AG, long an adherent to the virtues and benefits of mass production, is taking a new shine to niche vehicles built in relatively small volumes.

In its Autoeuropa plant in Palmela, a short drive outside of Lisbon, Portugal, VW is now building three different vehicles - the VW Sharan and SEAT Alhambra minivans and the new VW Eos - in relatively small numbers. Next year, VW will start to build a fourth vehicle, the reborn VW Scirocco, in the same plant, which has maximum capacity of 160,000 units annually.

VW will do fine. The Eos will boost sales and showroom visits. Also, Toyota has had many more recalls.

The Eos is nice. It will get attention from a lot of people and also bring many into the showrooms. Lets see if it actually sells well too.

I think it will. It only has two compeitors. It is a better car than the Pontiac G6 hardtop convertible that costs similar amounts. It is also just about as good as the Volvo C70 that costs 10k more. I only wish that they would acutally debut it during Summer. It should come soon though.

they do make very good looking cars...I still admire the look for the new Passat. Its nice, but too pricey.

chewy, the eos only has to competitors in the us. in europe there are roughly 5 competitors

VW is not a real car company. They make Fischer Price toys that break often. Spend a little more and get whatever you really want, instead of the cheaper VW version which catches your eye. Signed, a 2 year owner of a new VW.
