CAR WARS! 2013 Subaru BRZ Goes HEAD-To-HEAD With The 2013 Ford Mustang V6, WHO Gets The Crown?
Though the 2013 Subaru BRZ is expected to be a driver's car and a relative success, it's not exactly clear who its clear-cut competition will be. Except the Scion FR-S, of course.

A rear-wheel drive entry-level coupe just isn't what you find around these days, unless you look towards muscle cars. Muscle like the 2013 Ford Mustang V6.

That's pretty heavy competition, particularly now that the Mustang V6 has upped its power to the 300 horsepower mark.

So, just how does it fair out against the likes of a bigger and more powerful rear-wheel drive coupe? Feast you eyes down below...

On this episode of Head 2 Head, Angus MacKenzie pits the 2013 Subaru BRZ against its American rival - the 2013 Ford Mustang V6. After carving up canyon roads in both cars, Angus hands the keys over to pro race driver Randy Pobst for limit testing and hot laps around Streets of Willow racetrack. Find out which front engine, rear-wheel drive coupe reigns supreme!

CORRECTION - On the spec chart, the BRZ engine should be listed as simply a Flat-4. It is definitely not turbocharged!

it is a bit of a let down that's why everyone who's looking to get a BRZ should just wait for the STI version..that will probably be the same difference between an impreza vs it's STI big brother..two completely different cars

The BRZ does sound like my type of car though, i want one..

They're not really comparable. The Mustang is more expensive, larger and more powerful. The BRZ should be compared to the Miata.

I haven't driven the BRZ yet but it seems like a similar formula but a less powerful version of an S2000 without being able to drop the top. The BRZ sounds like a great car but they should definitely bring on a STI version. That car would set a new standard for budget performance as I'm sure a WRX/STI motor would slide in quite nicely!

I'm an American car guy myself but as a TRUE enthusiast, I recognize real when I see it. I am in love with the machine that Subaru/Toyota built! I want one but there is only one draw back and its not the engine. It's the dealer markup. Take a trip to your local Subaru or Scion dealer and your jaw will drop. The BRZ I looked at was a Limited and had a 34K sticker on it.
