What % Of Car Buyers BUY Their Car Based On WHERE It's BUILT?
One of the most interesting elements on a vehicle's sticker is where the auto is built. These days, with a global economy, you will find Japanese car companies building vehicles in Ohio, and German automakers going south of the border.

Even better: Check out where a vehicle's parts are sourced from.

Of course being that vehicles are retail products, you better believe that would be buyers have strong opinions on all matters related to the vehicle.

Take, for example, one religious group whose members avoid any German-produced vehicle because of the marque's role building the "people's car."

Or how about a grandfather that will NOT touch any vehicle made by a Japanese company after what happened at Pearl Harbor.

That being said, what percentage of car buyers are BIGOTS, when it comes down to where a vehicle was built?

For motorcycles and cars ill avoid american products. American bikes are over priced and built horribly. American cars are over weight, under funded, or has a v8 in it.

Actually I dont think so. We bought a Mercedes Benz GL450 back in 2008 and it is built in America and has been a very reliable car.

Where's i-phone built?
I personally don't care where, but which brand. My estimate is

American car: have no idea, but probably 5 years before breaking down.
German car: breaking down after 5 years.
Japanese car: break down after 8 years.

As much as I love the new 328, I just have to wait to see next IS, because my ex's 3 is costing her $2K/year after warranty, without even much driving.

The ironic thing is that many of the automakers don't actually make them in their home country. The Camry is more American than many "American" cars.

What specific aspect of wanting to buy something built in a certain market/jurisdiction makes one a bigot?

Should one choose italian or russian shoes? Would one automatically have an anti-russian bias when purchasing a pair of italian shoes? Maybe we should all stick with russian shoes and italian vodka just to make sure the American PC thought police doesn't come after us.

Some groups of people are better at some things than others. Skill, expertise etc tend to develop locally and result in some level of regional specialization. It's simple fact of life that, for example, German cars are more rewarding to drive vs. others. Conversely using German software is marginally better than being waterboarded. Should Americans stick with American cars and should Germans have their own "Wort fuer Fenster"?

Is this really the best you can come up with for a post?

"What % of car buyers buy their car based on where it's built?"

- Take the percentage from that answer, and you will have the percentage of car dumb buyers.

The high performance engines for the Government Motors Camaro are all built in some place called Mexico. No American hands touch it. So much for the heart beat of America.

Chevy is really: el latido del corazón de México
