Feds Run Aground While Attempting To Strip Drivers Of Cell Phones

Federal officials' crusade against distracted driving faces a major snag: U.S. regulators are unsure who can set rules on how cell phones are used behind the wheel.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is limited to regulating vehicle equipment, not mobile devices brought in by occupants. The Federal Communications Commission has authority over mobile phones but doesn't deal with the risks of their use in vehicles.

Lahood is the hood here, only true defensive driving courses for everyone, starting with those going for their first license will address this issue. The shrieks about mobile devices is another attempt by some folks with a little power to grab alot more power. Banish the Hood back to his Ludite roots and look for the real culprit driver education.

This is a state issue. Just like wearing a seatbelt is a state law, so should cell phone regulations.
