86 vs. Cayman comparo from Wheels Magazine Australia
"Now holding on to the Cayman, the 86 begins to reveal its greatness, a cohesive balance that is utterly addictive. The sweetness of the beautifully direct, linear steering, so razor-sharp when snapping from one direction to another, yet never nervous or demanding of concentration. The Cayman's hydraulic steering is excellent, yet the 86's steering is even better: more incisive, quicker, demanding of less input through any given corner, with an instinctive purity that I'd previously thought impossible with electric assistance. Is it better than the new 911's electric set-up? Yes, because on-centre the 86's steering is sharper, more natural, with greater sensitivity.

The Toyota turns in instinctively, accurately, holding the line through constant radius corners with the gentlest of understeer. The 86's seemingly modest 215/45R17s generate enough lateral grip to maintain station with the Porsche, yet lift deliberately and the tail subtly drifts out, the nose tucking in, the car's stance so obviously utterly adjustable. Best of all, I can feel the tyre's contact patches working and know exactly how much they offer, effortlessly loading up the outside rear, or transitioning gently, flowing smoothly into oversteer. The car is alive--that word again--and I recall Tada-san explaining the benefits of the compact, low-mounted, boxer engine and the importance of a low centre of gravity--18mm lower than that of the Cayman, according to Toyota--to chassis balance, real agility and composure. These qualities combine with the ability to instantly settle even as it skips a couple of millimetres sideways over a bump that would seriously upset any lesser car. I'm staggered by the 86's talents, at once delicate and precise, and its inherent ability to reward the enthusiast driver. It never intimidates, never needs to be goaded, is always on the driver's side. The Cayman may be more planted and capable of higher levels of lateral acceleration but, amazingly, the 86 manages to be even greater fun."

LoL, "put an innovative supercharger..." This is such a hilarious, hallow statement. Please specify.

I could already see you driving this car.

LOL

1st This is a wish, not a statement.
2nd What is 'Hallow'?

I will test drive it, just to see how they balance grip and suspension comfort with a CG lower than GT3. I could already see you scratching the head.

Moreover my next car will either be 328 or IS XXX. HA!

I think people who buy this car buy it for handling and performance on the track Not base on it interior design just like the BMW 3-Series (current BMW 3-Series has gotten much better) but still Not the best in class.

The article states that the Cayman is able to pull a couple of hundred meters on the FT86. I'm sorry but that is a trouncing. Why are they even comparing the two? A couple of football fields? LOL!!! Doubt that they will ever be cross-shopped. But hey... It handles nice and is fun to drive. I can't help but hate this car.

A typical badge whore would tell you: At the end of a day, A Cayman is still a Porsche.

Nonetheless, 86 is definitely a very nice (if not awesome) sports car that will be used for many unintended and unlawful purposes - in particular by a bunch of tofu delivery teenagers.

This is definitely a long overdue good new for the tofu industry.

Note to Toyota: Set up a tofu stand next to the car and present dozens of tofu to the wannabe tofu delivery boys after they take delivery of your 86s.

There are the badge whores and then there comes along the tofu aficionados. Take your pick.

If you want to start name calling than let do it. At the end of the day the Cayman is nothing more than a Overprice VW. The last time I remember Toyota cars are better quality and last longer than VW.

Do me and everyone up here a Favor, Stopping being a Party Pooper. Just appreciate the this car for what it is because it will force other automaker to make Fun and Affordable sports car as well. And "Yes" a lot of teenager will buy this car and so What??? We were all teenager at one time in our life.
