REVIEW: 2013 BMW M6 Convertible - Game OVER For The Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG?
If you couldn't get enough of Agent 001's review of the 2013 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe, well, we've got the big potatoes for you now. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you 001's thoughts on the sensational 2013 BMW M6 Convertible.

Yup, the time has come.

Personally, what I love about 001's video is that he manages to capture the little details that folks seem to miss out on. Take, for example, his mentioning of the interior combinations THEN he actually shows them to you -- yes, even with the deviated stitching that 001 incessantly speaks of.

Clearly, the 2013 M6 is a heavy hitter. But now we've got to tackle the BIG elephant in the room: How's the M6 compare to the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG that should be hitting the market shortly?

There's only ONE way to find out -- Watch 001 in action with the M6 below.

Agent 001 of AutoSpies.com (The TMZ/WikiLeaks of autos) gives you the first in-depth review of the 2013 BMW M6 Convertible.

beautiful, period.

Striking looks, but just don't like the idea of a M car that weighs 4500lbs. Question: Is the heads-up display distracting or annoying since it is directly in your line of sight?

If you like to drive hard? M6.

If you like to cruise in a sporty fashion? SL63 AMG.

It's that simple.

Not for nothing, but if you like to drive hard, you wouldn't be in an M6 anyway...

... unless your rear seat passengers actually have legs.

the convertible is nice, but the M6 coupe would be my choice. It weighs about 450lb less than the convertible, and 200lb less than the M5 sedan, with a lower center of gravity. Given the performance figures I've seen for the M5 (0-60 in 3.7s, 1/4 mile in 11.9s at 123mph, .95g skidpad, etc.), the M6 Coupe is going to be an absolute monster.

Wimmer, I agree partially with you. Sadly the M6 is too heavy (even compared to the SL63 (M6 have to extra seats) therefore is bigger. This compare is very silly. In performance the SL63 will edge the M6 just cause size and weight give the advantage to the SL. Finally the Luxury question...which is more luxurious, if I have to answer that here, that will be an offense to all of which already know the answer. Both cars are great but definitely in gunned to different buyers... Just BMWSpies will compare both. I am sure BMW wouldn't.

Do not forget the SL engine displacement is 6.3L vs. M6 4.4 twin turbo. The difference of about 30%. This is part of the performance edge, not just the weight. Mercedes Benz uses very large engines compared to BMW.

there's no way the SL is worth the extra 30% it costs over the M6. and the SL is fast but it's not the same handling...much more of a cruiser. in terms of looks, the new SL is WAY overwrought in terms of design and lacks cohesion. the M6, on the other hand, is an elegant piece of designwork inside and out.

Benz uses a 5.5L twin turbo in the SL63, not a 6.3L. And in previous years it was a 6.2L, the "63" moniker is only for nostalgia.

"there's no way the SL is worth the extra 30% it costs over the M6."

And you're basing on this on what? Performance? Design? There are intangible features in cars that make up part of the price. In case of the SL I assume this could be a variety of extra safety features that the 6er lacks for example.

Certain vehicles (Brands) hold certain intrinsic values that you cannot replace. There is something about the SL63 that no M6 can ever replicate in its presence and grandeur. Likewise, there are aspects of the 6er that an SL cannot replicate.

That said, you can make a case for any car built on whether it is worth the money or not. Why is a Rolls Royce worth 500K+? How is a Bugatti worth 1.5MM+? Its all in the eyes of the beholder on what they feel they are getting. When your name (brand) have the loyal followings or have the power to create a car that performs or not, people will buy, then it doesnt matter what "value" is offered.

This along with the M6 coupe are the best looking cars BMW ever made in my opinion.

The BMW 6 rag top and MB SL are two completely distinct autos. The 6 is clearly a big honking coupe that has a rag top option.
The MB SL is a purpose built true roadster sports car.

Both cars will have their respective audience and customer base. I doubt anyone with deep pockets will have a moments hesitation deciding between the two.
