Porsche Unveils Its FIRST Special Edition For The All-New 911

Porsche Unveils Its FIRST Special Edition For The All-New 911
[Looks at watch] Well, the all-new Porsche 911 has been out for all of 37 seconds before Porsche AG could pop out a special edition already. Yes, that's a bit exaggerated.

In all seriousness, Porsche has announced the arrival of an all-new variant, the Club Coupe. In a move to pay respect to the Porsche clubs, Porsche Community Management -- who knew such a thing existed? -- and Porsche Exclusive have collaborated in an effort to "toast" the 60th anniversary of founding of the very first club.

As there were 13 founding members, only 13 vehicles will be built. Porsche has staked its claim for one of them. That means there will only be 12 up for grabs, globally.

And as you'd expect, there's a catch.

You can only get a hold of one by registering for the lottery. If you hit the winning number, then you get the opportunity to cough up $175,000 + USD. Steep, ain't it?

So, what's those dollars get you? Let's see:

- Brewster Green paint
- Espresso full natural leather
- +30 hp bump thanks to the Carrera S powerkit
- 20'' Sport Techno wheels

...and some other little details you'll have to click through to see.

Porsche's microsite says:

The first Porsche was built in 1948 and the first Porsche Club was established just four years later: a group of seven Porsche drivers founded the Westfälischer Porsche Club Hohensyburg, now known as the Porsche Club Westfalen e. V., on 26 May 1952. That same year saw the formation of a second Porsche Club with six members initially – the Porsche Club Berlin e. V. The movement took off and there are now 640 official Porsche Clubs in 75 countries with a total of approximately 181,000 members. They are all enthusiastic about the Porsche brand and are part of a unique Porsche family.

To mark the 60 th anniversary, something very special has been planned. In honour of the 13 founding Porsche Club members and all Porsche Club members worldwide, Porsche Community Management has teamed up with Porsche Exclusive to create an exceptional vehicle: the 911 Club Coupe.

And because this 911 honoring the founding of the first Clubs is so rare, only very few Club members will be privileged to acquire it. Only 12 Club members will have the opportunity, through a lottery, to acquire one 911 Club Coupe each. One vehicle will remain at Porsche to honor the Porsche Club World.

IMAO..........! What is wrong with the automakers lately? Nissan Juke-R with Nissan GT-R engine with it outrageous price. Aston Martin Special edition model and now this Porsche? I don't if they on make one. $175,000 + USD????

For that kind of money I would get a brand new 2013 stock Nissan GT-R that will be faster and handle better anyway. And if I wanted it too I can take the extra cash and turn the stock Nissan GT-R into an Alpha R35 with 1,200 hp.

And even maybe for that kind of money get a Nissan GT-R and still has money left to get a BMW M3. The list goes on and on. Yeah...yeah it a Special edition but come on....!

very few people cross shop between a 175k porsche and a nissan gt-r.

as they say, if you must ask how much, its too much.

there are fanatic porsche fans who would gladly line up to buy this car all the way to their fat bank accounts. these people also generally have more than one porsche in their garage already.

And for the price of a GT-R you can take a Evo or STI and tune it up to over 1000bhp and it would destroy a GT-R in a drag race or round the track................

See, i can do the same with any vehicle you choose ?

Don't expect these dumb yanks to notice such tiny details.

If it is not huge lashings of chrome or cheap Caddilac Leather, they do not recognize it.

I get a kick out of reading posts by guys who laugh at people who would spend this kind of money on a Porsche, while they are living in their parent's basement.

Since we are all whinning on what to do with money we don't have, for $175K I would purchase a new GT-R and a new PORSCHE 911 (both base models). Then I can have the cake and eat it too;)
