STUD OR DUD? 2013 Toyota Corolla Brochure Shots Leak Out

Toyota's all-new 2013 Corolla hatch, sold overseas as the Auris, has reportedly surfaced online in a series of leaked brochure images.

The vehicle shown in the scanned pages is a clear match for the camouflaged prototypes spied by TMR's photographers earlier this year.

Uncovered by website Noticias Automotivas, the images reveal an Auris-badged hatch that draws heavily on the look of the new Yaris light car and the Camry medium sedan.

Wow, the FX-16 is back! This looks like a cross between the FX and the Nissan Versa hatch that should be out soon.

hyundai and kia will continue to make gains over toyota as long as they keep pushing out these benign pieces of design that look dated the day they launch.

Atleast Toyota has a design history of its own to use, unlike the aforementioned cloners.

I'm near Buffalo and I hear Hyundai across the border is offering 96 month financing now, on top of a gas card and approx $3000 off the sticker. Why lease used when you can buy new for less?

are you joking? toylex design is painfully derivative. for example, every lexus now sports bmw's hofmeister kink. please.

If clipping part of a window off makes you a genius, then the 1960s BMW 1500 doesn't make anyone a genius. It just proves sheeple are stupid.

Look at a 1940 Chrysler Windsor (or Ford tudor) and see the Hoffmeister kink in action 20 years before BMW decided to let the world know it invented it.

Toyota fan has to go back 70 years in an attempt to find BMW copying something. Pathetic. How far back do you have to go to find Lexus copying something?

easy answer: as far back as the previous generation mercedes or bmw. lexus even copied the nomenclature of the germans at launch and started using alphanumeric names instead of made up model names. lexus is one giant derivative design factory riding on a toyota camry platform.

Let me clarify, that is 0% for 96 months.

I would like to believe in chairman's Toyoda's statement's that he wants all Toyota's to be passionate and fun to drive. This car does not look too bad and it does remind me of the FX-16. If Toyota is serious and heeds the chairman's words perhaps we could have a revival of the FX-16 even in sedan form. Look Toyota's sales are coming back strongly but for the most part they are still dull cars to drive. I hope they decide to make this philisophical change and not have the Toyobaru twins be nothing more than a glitch in marketing.

And this is the car company that we're supposed to expect big things from? The car pictured above looks embarrassing. Toyota is nothing more than a Japanese version of TATA automobiles.

Can't be the American version, the steering wheel's on the wrong side.
American version will look dumbed down ... further.

Way to dodge my rebuttal.

What did the Toyota FJ, Lexus LS, IS and ES copy?
How about the Celica and Supra? (the car that Hyundai's poor person coupes are copied from).
How about the last generation VW Corolla?

Actually, the Germans have "invented" a few design cues from the Japanese AND Americans.
Easiest examples.
The E-Class is looking more and more like the GS with each subsequent generation.
2012 GLK is inheriting the same low hood and lines as the RAV4.
The giant holes that everyone supposedly copied from Audi was stolen off of Chrysler.
German cars are covered in trapezoidal tail pipes nowadays. Wonder who copied that from them about 10 years ago?

Stealing naming conventions? It's unfortunate everyone (not just the Japanese) have decided to use barcodes to name their cars. I guess originality doesn't exist anymore in this respect. Ever heard of the "Model T"? That name is rather bland and German like.

Funny that you hate Toyota so much you give the Koreans and Chinese a pass on copying. Why the insecurity?

No matter how ugly, low prices and incentives trump everything to unemployed Americans. How else do you explain the success of the Koreans and Cheverolet?

Has no one noticed that the first photo does not even show the toyota badge on the grille, so surely this is fake not a real "brochure".

Please redo the left- out- to- dry dull- Toyota Corolla.Toyota needs to up the gas mileage to 39/40 and make it a smart car.Do what Ford did to the Ford Focus.
Lets hope for an exciting new up to date Corolla in 2013 or 2014~

Jtz must comment. So Hugh you don't see the A7's greenhouse in the new Avalon? Oh wait the face of the Tundra is original huh? Also ignoring that the Toyota Venza face copied the edge's. Also if I am not mistaken the C pillars on the 1st generation RX arrived after or before the Chevy Blazer and Honda Pass Port? I forget. Lastly ignoring that the frost generation LS copied Mercedes. I'm jtz I can get cars from a to z. Also the 2006 Avalon's C pillars copied the VW Phatom's C pillars.

Hey Hugh are you defending All Japanese cars or just Toyota's because I can dig down to some real Japanese copycats for 2012 and 13 models. Btw the Toyota Celica ain't original after all the 1st generation VW Beatle arrived first way before 1994 with those round headlights. The 2005 Camry's back lights copied the Mercedes C class. I'm jtz have a nice day. Oh the new ES's c pillars copied BMW. The new Lexus face copied Infinti's. And the 2004 Lexus GS front end copied the 2004 Honda CRV's front end.

jtz7jtz7 - 6/18/2012 7:25:14 PM

Oh wait someone actually thinks that this corolla copied the Nissan Versa hatch? Ignoring that the Nissan copied Mazda 3.

This is so easy. Time to bring all the new copies to the kitchen table. Let's begin shall we. Hyundai Sonata and Ford Focus hint back ends but the Accent hatch back end couldn't copy the Fiesta's.

Greenhouses: Saturn L300, Ford Focus, 2003 Pass at, 2011 Infinti M, 2002 legacy, Dodge Dart, 2013 Altima, Ford 500, but only the 2007 Azera's greenhouse is the copycat. Mercedes and VW CC hint exteriors. Honda Accord and 2012 Legacy hint sides. Want me to bring more Hugh just let me know.
