BMW Leads Top Technology Cars List
BMW integrates the most technology into its cars. So says the Telematics Research Group , a Minneapolis technology consultancy. The TRG scored individual models in 30 areas including telematics, phone, head unit and navigation, audio, radio, video, and driver assist. BMW placed four individual models in the top 13, the odd amount because there's a six-wasy tie for 8th through 13th place, while runner-up Mercedes-Benz had three.

I wholeheartedly disagree with this. I've always found BMW to be far behind the competition (Audi, Mercedes, Lexus) when it comes to Technology. Engines and drive, they may lead, but Tech? No way.

As expected all the luxury cars are at the top. I would expect either MB or Lexus to top the list, but BMW came out on top. It kind of sucks that Lincoln, being a luxury division, is actually rated with the likes of Chevy, Toyota, and Nissan. Chrysler and Volvo are even lower, What happened?

Is there a particular YEAR for this list? I was under the impression that Mercedes would own that list, followed by Lexus and then perhaps BMW.

Again, people please keep it simple. None of you are experts on this subject. Technologies are not always transpaprent and not necessarily require user interaction to to noticed. If Telematics Research Group thinks BMW should be on top of the list, then they must have good reason with facts, unlike all of us in this form.

Have you ever used an iDrive?? The technology is there but BMW unfortunately has a knack for taking it too far and making their technology user unfriendly. The M5 has some 108options, something like that right, and the CLS55 has around 18. Both get the job done except one just tries too hard.

come on guys... its more than just technology that the drive uses directly. I mean, engine technology that helps the cars perform. Its also about Technology in the ECU of the car...

What I don't get is how Cadillac is up there...Jag and Land Rover were also surprises, and Audi being down so far is also a surprise...Otherwise, things are as it seems...

At the end of the day, WHO CARES which car has more technology? This is almost sounding like we're entering "bragging rights wars" here.

I'm not surprised BMW is leading the way in technology. They brought us the zeon headlights and the first idrive. MB and Audi bashed BMW's idrive but secretly developed a similar system. I'm fairly certain the Japanese manufactures will enter the market with something similar in the near future.

cadillac has that magnetic suspension doesn't it? and land rover has the terrain response system and the cross-linked air suspension and the touch screen sat nav and...wait shouldn't land rover be higher in the list?
jaguar though.....acura as well....hmmmm

BM3W - I seem to remember selling an MMI system in the early 90's in Audi. Yes it is more fancy now but much diffrent then the "microsoft 30 menu just to change the channel" idrive

Again if you are bragging about iDrive then WOW

IamEvilHomer....I'm not bragging, I'm just telling you like it is guy. BMW is #1 in car innovation and technology. Audi and others doesn't use technology and innovation to it's fullest. For example Audi's turbo engine. The turbo lag was horrible. BMW will never make that kinda of mistake. Their new turbo engine will have zero lag and perform even better than their NA I6 engine.

bm3w, they just put in two turbos that's all. one small one big. jaguar has a twin turbo diesel, with very little lag.
