However, Andy Palmer, executive vice president of Nissan’s Yokohama, Japan-based global operations, notes, the U.S. sales numbers don’t provide much of a marker for the success of the first mass-market electric car in several generations.
Nissan is nearing completion of a massive upgrade to its factory complex outside of Nashville that will allow it to build both the battery pack for the Leaf and the car itself domestically near year-end.
Once the company starts building Leafs in dollars, the whole marketing and sales approach the Nissan has pursued in U.S. will change, Palmer said.

I'm pretty sure the leaf is an EV but the Volt? It's a hybrid. Just like the Prius.

I am pretty sure nowhere in the article linked says that Chevrolet Volt overtakes Nissan Leaf ss top selling EV In US. The Volt is defined by the article as ”rechargeable vehicle”, the Leaf is defined in the article as “all- electric”. Chevrolet Volt is a 4 passenger plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. Nissan Leaf is a 5 passenger hatchback electric vehicle.

Chevy Volt is a plug-in hybrid. Sorry, it is worst than plug-in hybrids. The fuel consumption is extreme high ~ 26-28 mpg in petrol mode. Typical GM, try to copy something, but the copycar is dud.

POW! It is an EV, with a 'Plan B,' something the Leaf simply cannot offer. That is why me and many others would never purchase a Leaf. Let's face facts, 100% electric technology is not advanced enough quite yet to make pure electrics a viable daily option. The VOLT, however, is engineered for realistic daily driving behaviors, plus much more!:-)

I don't think AutoSpies audience as a whole understands a word of what you are saying. They just hate GM and everything GM related and the Volt seems to really irk them out. They are just blindly spewing the same nonsense over and over hoping it becomes true.

The Volt is not an EV?! It just magically transports me to work and back everyday without using a drop of gasoline. Same a Leaf or MiEV, or FFE. Quite viable for quite a few. Something that this audience either does not comprehend or fears it so much that they would say anything to deny it.
