Would You Consider Acura The "Lost Brand" Of The Industry?

Would You Consider Acura The
When Acura pulled the cover off its NSX super car concept at the Detroit auto show in January, the design raised pulses, but the timing raised eyebrows.

Then Honda's luxury brand then spent a fortune in February to feature the car -- which isn't due on sale for three years -- in Acura's first Super Bowl ad.

"You don't pull the wraps off what you're doing years from now if everything's hunky-dory. You see that from companies not doing particularly well," says Jack Nerad, executive editorial director at auto research site kbb.com.

This company really lost their way with low tech, horrible exteriors design, and interiors that look like something from a space movie from the 80's, tons of hard plastic (which HONDA is good for).

You don't know anything. What you say about Acura sounds like Lincoln or Caddylack.

The problem with Acura is it has absolutely no idea where to position itself. It certainly can't compete with Lexus, BMW, Mercdes, Audi, etc.

So it ends up being a Honda but a little bit better. Not really a great place to be.

In a way, yes. Acura hasn't been able to commit to a product line nor a consistent market strategy in a very long time. They still build good/great cars, no matter what others want to say. The TSX, TL, MDX, new RDX, are all competitive in their respective classes. But that's it. They abandoned its very popular entry level Integra/RSX. They've gone back and forth with having a coupe or not, first the Legend coupe, then the CL. The ZDX really has no place anywhere. Then they created two realy good sedans that ended up competing with each other in the market: TL and RL. The biggest telling point was the lack of updates to the NSX (after the completely uninspired headlight update) then the subsequent discontinuation of it. Now, the ILX is questionable in its execution while the RDX seems to be right in line with what and where it should be.

Yes indeed Acura is completely lost. They were once thought to be innovative and somewhat class leading and now sorely they are far far behind. Had they not stopped innovating and keeping up or ahead of their competition, they would not be hurting like they are now. Take their interiors (dated) transmissions (severely dated) and engines (dated severely) and nothing is exciting with the brand. Sorry Honda, focus on your cars not your jets and robots and get your crap together.
