Wait, then who should take the credit for the "TOYOTA PRIUS"? What a bullsh*t headline...

I think Toyota can take credit for anything it makes. And by the way, that was one of the most poorly written, confusing articles I've read for some time!

it's called smart branding. taking a valuable brand name and spreading it across multiple cars/platforms.

why? they invested many millions in the brand. isn't that a good business strategy to leverage it across more platforms and models?

The headline implies Toyota is claiming credit that it is not due. The article revolves around how the Prius cars are being branded, 1 of which doesn't belong but is still branded a Prius.
I'll admit I was expecting something else in that article.

Wasn't Prius supposed to end up being a sub-brand like Scion? The article reinforces this the way I'm reading it.

If branding it the Prius C, rather than the Aqua, garners Toyota just one extra sale, then they made the right decision. Real auto enthusiasts should care about the car itself, not how it is marketed, especially when the marketing is working.

O, and again, lame a$$ headline. grrrr.
