Romney Says No More "Loans" For Technology That Automakers Should Be Developing Anyway

Romney recently visited bankrupt solar panel factory Solyndra LLC in California to criticize the Obama administration's efforts to loan money to help new technology take off. Solyndra received $535 million from one of the Energy Department's clean energy loan programs and laid off 1,100 workers.
"The government is now picking winners and losers — or in the case of this president — it's picking losers and the private sector does a much better job," Romney told The Detroit News in a wide-ranging interview, adding that the Obama administration was playing "venture capitalist."
