Next Porsche 911 GT3 Will Have Over 450HP
Porsche is stepping up development of its all-new 911 GT3, the most focused version of the ‘991’ generation of the iconic sports car yet. The new model is set to be unveiled at the 2013 Geneva motor show next March and the order books will open soon after that.

The new GT3 looks set to be powered by the latest evolution of Porsche’s motorsport-derived normally aspirated 3.8-litre flat six, rather than adopting the larger 4.0-litre powerplant used in the 997-generation GT3 RS 4.0.

With crummy Cadillacs and even Hyundai's Genesis is running around with about 450 HP, Porsche had better come up with a more powerful mousetrap.

If Porsche hopes to maintain an edge and a not see it's reputation go up in Hyundai tire smoke, it must produce more powerful, faster sports cars.

Comparing the GT3 to consumer cars by simply looking at the power measures is like comparing apples to oranges based on their fructose content.

Unlike any consumer class car (Cadillac, Hyundai, etc), all GT3 engines are dry sump, a more expensive approach that allows for higher Gs over the course of a day long race so you never have oil starvation. I'm pretty certain both Cadillac and Genesis use cheaper wet sump(even the standard 911 is wet sump) despite having 500+ horsepower. What good are those horses unless you are going to take it to the track right? Well guess what, your Hyundai and Cadillac will not make it to the 2nd track day, because they were not meant for tracking.

The GT3 engine is a very very tough and durable engine that is made for racing lap after lap after lap. It's not about horsepower, it's about using this car in real racing environments where it is meant to compete through an entire season of racing.
