Armadillos Be Damned: Texas Readies First Road For 85 MPH Speed Limit
The Texas Department of Transportation said today a toll road being built from San Antonio to north of Austin could be the first road in the country to have a posted 85 mile per hour speed limit.

"It was designed under extremely high design parameters," said Darren McDaniel, the Speed Management Director for the department, which builds and manages all Texas highways.

The highway, called State Highway 130, is being built to take traffic loads off of the heavily overcrowded Interstate 35 between San Antonio and north of Austin, a stretch which is one of the most congested in the country.  Most of the highway is built, and posted at 80 miles per hour, and the remainder is set to be opened before the end of this year.

Disgusting, but it's what you might expect from Texass. I'm sure they don't care about carbon footprints, or safety. Thumbs down Texas!

Please don't talk... you are exhaling carbon monoxide to the atmosphere and contributing to global warming.

On your argument,

1. I think fast moving traffic consumes less than bumper to bumper traffic.
2. The German autobahn has proven to be safer than our 55 MPH American highways.

Just means the speed everyone has been doing along there will be legal.

An 85 mph speed limit means that people will be typically going 90 to 100 mph due to irresponsible human nature. The resulting accidents are going to be spectacular.

Disobeying the law is not necessarily irresponsible, it is simply braking the law. How many laws do we all know with which we do NOT agree with???

German drivers would then be criminals if we were to use your method of reasoning.

Your arguments are trash (which u probably like since you care not about the Earth!)

1) Every MPH faster you go adds more carbon gasses. This is a proven fact.

2) Comparing German drivers to people from texas is like comparing Brain Surgeons to the guy who cleans bedpans. Sure, they work in the same building, but damn...

and the law is the law.
