Toyota Informs Dealers of Scion FR-S Quality Issues

Toyota has sent two memos to dealers informing them of Scion FR-S quality issues. Specifically:

1. Some Scion FR-S owners have reported moisture inside the rear tail light housings of their new cars.

2. Toyota dealers have found numerous examples of FR-S coupes with mis-aligned body panels. Some FR-S coupes have gaps between body panels that are as much as a quarter inch out of flush.

While these issues could be considered minor, the body panel fitment problems are embarrassing, not to mention that they cast doubt on the integrity of the Toyota-Subaru joint venture design process.

Maybe not...I think this shows that designing a car to be perfect right out of the gate is hard, especially when the car is designed between two different companies.

Minor recall nothing major. Here is the recall on Hyundai which is the King of Junk,

The recall goes on and on but I think you get the point. But autospies Never posted this recall on Hyundai we all know how much autospies love Hyundai and BMW.

I notice autospies has lost many of it members and a lot of the post rarely has any post or comments about them at all and I wonder why.

generally good advice but misaligned body panels isn't really a "bug"

It's called poor Quality Assurance in order to rush the vehicle to market. Using the fact that this is a new partnership is an excuse.

I think you should probably post that again, just in case people didn't see the other three times you posted it.

Thanks.

@aaronm_mt,

don't worry bro once Toyota and Lexus figure out that by having their sponsor ads on autospies is NOT cost effective they will STOP sponsoring autospies and we will see autospies will change it attitude toward Toyota and Lexus.

I NEVER look at those car ads on autospies and said hey look I want to buy that car or cars. I use to like autospies and now I barely visit or post a comments because there are other website that is just as good or better without the b.s. bia articles.

This is the main reason a lot of members stop visiting autospies or post comments on the articles. If you don't belief just do a search for the last 7 days on all the articles that was posted you rarely see any comments on them.

There's no excuse for the body panels not lining up. That makes me worry about the rest of the car.

Look at the Toyota trolls come out of the woodwork.

Aside from Toyota having had the most recalls by far for the past few years, Toyota has had recalls from everything from steering and brake issues to faulty airbags to door fires.

Heck, safety regulators have recently opened a probe on suspensipn failures on the RAV-4 (so much for it being "isolated" to the Tundra and Tacoma).

And this is newsworthy b/c having mis-aligned body panels on numerous vehicles shows shoddy manufacturing (how did they ever pass inspection?).
