AWESOME or AWFUL: Does BMW's M Performance Interior Trim Kit Get A Thumbs UP Or A Thumbs DOWN?
While Agent 001 feels pretty good about the all-new, 2012 BMW 3-Series, to be straightforward I am just not feeling it.

From the four-cylinder powerplant to the very confused -- in my eyes -- interior, it's lost its touch in my humble opinion.

But for many folks, it's still the benchmark product in the entry-level luxury class. You can't blame them as its four-cylinder is a highly efficient and fast shifting product and it still does some things its rivals can't.

And folks are still snapping them up like it's their business. You know what that means: Let the modding begin!

As with most vehicles these days, an easy mod to do that makes a big difference is switching out the trim bits. If you've been keeping track, BMW's been ramping up its M Performance parts catalog, particularly with the F30, and a new trim kit incorporates matte carbon fiber and Alcantara to enhance your 3-Series' interior.

That said, I received an email from 001 with the subject "Sweet."

However, when I opened it, I thought the complete opposite.

So, what's it going to be Spies?

Is the new BMW M Performance interior trim kit AWESOME or AWFUL?

Not my thing perdonally but probably would look a lot better in a non-beige interior. Gray/black trim (like carbon fiber and the alcantara here) don't match beige.

It looks simple and clean but bland. Seems like some controls are missing.

i like the alcantara and carbon fiber. really dislike the 'm performance' label. that's just tacky.

with beige interior, of course not. with black interior, it will look great. Even with a two toned gray interior BMW with a lemans blue metallic exterior.

For the most part, I like it. Way better than what they used to be. I just don't like the "audi-esque" navigation/multimedia screen.

Same here that screen looks like an after thought. Also I picture that Alcantara dash piece being a magnet for lint and such.

certainly not 'cheap' materials. same ones porsche and the upmarket brands use.

the carbon fiber and alcantara would probably look good with the red leather interior, they'd go well together.

I'll add that nothing will help it until they get rid of that horrendous Nav unit. Or stop being so cheap and make it a true pop-up. Just tacky.
