BREAKING! RIP Sync And Others? Apple Shows SIRI Steering Wheel Integration On BMW And Others
Well, SYNC had a good run and it was a good one.

But as predicted, SIRI on the steering wheel is the future and NO ONE, but NO one is going to stop that train.

Today at the Apple Developers conference Apple announced the move into the car and has partnered with BMW, GM, Mercedes, Land Rover, Jaguar, Audi, Toyota, Chrysler and Honda to have SIRI integrated right into the steering wheel buttons.

They are calling it 'Eyes Free'.

Will Ford being locked into Microsoft tech takeaway their advantage in this space?

If it requires that I purchase an Apple product? Then they can keep it.

I'm sure Apple is losing sleep over your opinions of this.

Typical of many MS products, Sync never worked as advertised. It was a big factor is the drop in some of Ford's quality ratings. At least SIRI will probably do what it's supposed to... work.

Question...if some one has any info on this...
Doesn't Porsche, BMW, GM, MB and a few others use QNX-OS for there infotainment, and vehicle management system... So are they going to switch to a new OS? Or are they merging Apple's and RIM's features together?

I think this is just a button to talk to Siri and doesn't do anything to your car like change the radio or temperature.

Yeah, I'm sure Google is losing sleep since they currently only have 900,000 activations a day. Not to mention the Galaxy S III is the most preordered electronic gadget in world history, surpassing the Iphone 4s preorders by many multiples. And I say as someone who owns enough AAPL to buy a nice ride in cash.
