I remember driving both the Volvo XC60 and the updated C30 when they were both new. I wrote reviews here and I have to say that, overall, Volvo makes a pretty damn good product.
Aside from the fact it has no idea how to build a good user interface for its navigation systems, good products.
There's only one real issue with them: They're sterile. The Swedish quirks remind you that there is SOME pulse to the vehicle but it's a faint beat.
And now that Volvo's been pretty upfront that Polestar is going to sport-up the "naughty Volvo," the S60, we should have something to look forward to that will completely change everything we've known about Volvo as a marque. Remember how cool those
real R versions were? They will have NOTHING on the Polestar - you read it here first, folks.
Though it would be pretty cool if Polestar brings back the spaceball shifter -- just saying.
The key will come down to the power being pumped from the 4.4-liter V8 from the XC90. Remember, it is the same powerplant used in the Noble M600, which generates up to 650 ponies.
Now Autocar is saying that loose lips have revealed the hot-to-trot S60 will produce 500 horsepower.

The new model, developed by the team behind Volvo’s Swedish Touring Car Championship entry, was spied in Sweden for the first time last week and is said to be close to a market launch.
Insiders have given no details away other than the BMW M3-eclipsing power output. It is unlikely Volvo would have stretched its six-cylinder engine to make such a figure, so power is expected to come from a turbocharged version of the 4.4-litre Yamaha V8 found in the XC90 (and ?the Noble M600).
