If The Smokey And The Bandit Car Was Chosen Today, Would THIS Be It?
If you're a big fan of the Burt Reynolds classic Smokey and the Bandit, then you'll definitely appreciate this modern rendition.

The owner of an Audi R8 coupe decided to treat his vehicle to a little bit of a unique paint job and some modifications to pay homage to the Pontiac Trans-Am, which was arguably the real star of the picture.

That said, let's say YOU were in charge of picking the car for the movie -- assuming it were being filmed today -- WHICH car would you choose for the modern day Smokey and the Bandit?

Don't forget that it has to have that iconic Trans-Am "artwork." Oh, and don't forget about the 10-gallon hat.

Standard hater got first post. I am also pretty sure you drive a tan minivan and high five other dudes while you watch sports to get away from your boring daily life.

No way!
No import for Bandit, only a Camaro ZL or the Mustang Shelby would do.

The short-lived, syndicated tv series from the 90's used a foreign based car, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo, so foreign cars are ok.

As much as the original car sucked this one sucks more.
Stick with the original junker.

It's not that this car is foreign or AWD that make it not the right choice. This is not a Smokey in the Bandit car because it's too expensive.

To be a Smokey and the Bandit car, it needs to be:

Reasonably priced, so $50,000 - $60,000 and under
A performance version of a mass produced Coupe
Front engine
RWD or AWD
More Hatchback in nature than not
Fast, very fast
Not a convertible, but T-tops if you got'em
CB radio w/ antennae
Gold Phoenix on a black hood

A Subie STi would qualify, if it were not for the extra two doors
An Audi S5 would qualify if it were not low performance/per dollar
