A High-Performance SUV Shoot Out, Just One Problem - Porsche Cayenne Turbo vs. Mercedes ML63 AMG vs. BMW X5M

A High-Performance SUV Shoot Out, Just One Problem - Porsche Cayenne Turbo vs. Mercedes ML63 AMG vs. BMW X5M
Now if you read that headline closely, you'll notice I make mention of one problem. Well, folks, it's pretty simple: it seems that not one of these vehicles really outshines the other.

Much like a Top Gear clip I vaguely recall, one of the famed presenter remarks, they were trying so hard that they all wound up making the same car. And, if you look at the stats you'll quickly see the similarities.

All of the vehicles involved in the test have twin-turbo V8 motors, over 500 horsepower, feature automatic gearboxes and will do a sprint 100 km/h in roughly four and a half seconds.

I mean, I don't know German so I am reading this translated article and it sounds like the BMW X5M gets a woeful third place BECAUSE of its tires.

TIRES!

Tires can be changed, folks! And this is what is determining a test's result.

That said, we're not curious in which publication published who won. We're WAY more interested in WHICH high-performance German SUV you'd have in your driveway and WHY?

Considering the vehicle's similarities, WHY does the SUV YOU choose get your vote?

I would most-likely get Porsche first over the other two. I respect the BMW & its xDrive system though. The ML is definitely impressive on paper, but the overall exterior design came out a bit soft this time around. I'd would opt for the GLK AMG of the ML AMG simply b/c the GLK is a bit out-of-the-ordinary in design.

It would be a hard decision if I had to choose b/t the Porsche, a BMW X6M, or the Infiniti FX today. Ask me again by this time next year & my choices of hi-per SUV may be totally different as the category will get some new competition.

The BMW. The nav is better, free maintenance (this will save you ungodly amounts) and red leather!

I'm pretty certain I would never approach even 75% of any of these car's limits in my day to day driving (no, I would never take an SUV to the track), so given that reality, it's all about enjoying the finer things in the car such as... Porsche's most amazing Burmeister stereo system. And that alone puts the Cayenne on top for me. 2nd goes to the BMW for its focus on handling. The MB is better looking than the BMW, but that alone isn't enough for me.
