VIDEO: Mercedes-Benz's AMG Rings Rings In Its 45th Year With A Special Surprise

I have to admit, I dropped the ball on this one, guys.

At the 2012 New York Auto Show, the Agents were in full force. And on day two I was left to shoot the show by myself as 001 hopped on a jet plane and went back to the left coast.

Having a certain something for Mercedes-Benz's, I started off at their booth and I was immediately drawn to that V12 Bi-Turbo SL65. Sporting a matte black paint job and the sizable AMG Performance Package big brake kit, it just was pornography with four wheels.

While photographing the car in true AutoSpies fashion -- extensively -- I noted that there was a "1 of 45" anniversary badge and just figured "Eh, must just be the launch edition" as Mercedes-Benz typically does with its SLs.

Well, I am only half right.

I'd consider it a launch edition for the SL65 but it's really a celebration of 45 years since AMG has been doing beastly things to Benz's luxury autos.
