VIDEO: BIG, FIRST Crash At The 24 Hours Of Le Mans For The Toyota Hybrid Team
The 24 Hours of Le Mans has been long underway and in just before the sixth hour of racing there was a BIG crash involving Anthony Davidson of the Denso Toyota Hybrid team -- from the prototype class -- and Piergiuseppe Perazzini who was piloting a Ferrari 458 -- from the GT class.

Thankfully both drivers made it out alive but, unfortunately, Davidson is laid up in a hospital with a broken back.

We wish Davidson a quick and speedy recovery.

Looking at the footage, it appears that Perazzini missed Davidson's prototype in the mirror and was looking for his apex going into the turn.

Anthony Davidson gets together with F458 Italia driven by Perazzini, goes airborne and crashes hard into the wall. Both drivers got out of the car on their own, Davidson is in hospital with a broken back.

Toyota did very well for this first outing, losing due to driver error rather than technology. Give them time and they will be a worthy threat.

Next years rule changes will be huge. Basically do whatever you want BUT on a specified amount of fuel. Expect technology to come out of the woodwork.

Yep, gotta agree w/ u there 009....Besides if u look at the video closely I think the other driver may have tried to cut off the Toyota from passing him on the inside and because of the high speed clipping the Toyota and knocking it out of it's down force position on the track sent it into that air borne flight....Game over for the Hybrid.
