STUD or DUD: Is The Volvo S60 Polestar Ready For Prime Time? Volvo Wants To Hear From YOU If It Should Be Put Into Production!
By now you've seen the teaser footage and heard of the claims. Now, it's finally here.

Yes, a 500 horsepower Volvo.

Here's the lowdown on this unbelievable machine. Today the vehicle made its debut at the Gothenburg City race in Sweden. How fitting. As of NOW the S60 Polestar is a one-off concept, which was produced for a client. However, according to sources, Volvo is awaiting "market response" to see if it would make sense to actually produce for mass consumption. Can't blame them as this is not the bread and butter of its business.

That means YOU have to speak up and vocalize your thoughts in the comments below.

Let me briefly run through the details.

Originally rumors said the powerplant would be sourced from the XC90's V8 -- WRONG! The Polestar uses a heavily modified version of the S60's forced-induction inline six motor, which results in an ungodly 508 horsepower and 424 lb.-ft. of torque.

Coupled with this engine is a six-speed MANUAL gearbox and the company claims a zero to 60 time of 3.9 seconds.

In addition the vehicle has, predictably, been lowered, widened and reinforced the chassis, equipped the S60 Polestar with a Brembo big brake kit, and modified the suspension.

The exterior gets a much needed body kit that provides more room for the wider track front/rear. Note: the larger fenders, front clip, rear diffuser, side skirts and large diameter wheels.

Its interior gets the obligatory Alcantara treatment for most touchpoints -- steering wheel, shifter, seats -- and Polestar-specific seats.

All things considered, we're a little curious what YOU think about the Volvo S60 Polestar. Is it a STUD or a DUD? Is it ready for prime time?

this car is beautiful !! build it, but please offer a dual clutch transmission ...the only way they can sell this thing would be to keep it priced low ( not more than 55k-60k)
same price as a 335i audi s5 but same performance as c63, m3, cts v, is-f only then will you see good sales...

I am thinking this would run about $65k.

But that's a pure shot in the dark.

Personally, I would be much more inclined to drive this over the BMW M3, and I think it would give the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG a helluva run for its money.

Way to much front end overhang, the whole engine must sit in front of the front axle. But otherwise nice looking and keeps everyone pushing ahead, so yes build it.

Yes please! I'd love to see this in production, may consider trading in my C70 for it.

It's a beautiful car. Keep it under $60k and you should sell out.

MAKE SURE SHE DRIVES AS GOOD AS SHE LOOKS!

BUILD IT! A worthy successor to the last "real R" we've not seen for a few years. I will buy one. In fact, if they revive the FDC "R Tours" to European F1 races, I'll buy on on FD and go on another "R Tour." Had an absolute ball with my new factory delivery 2005 V70R going to the European Gran Prix at Nurburgring with the Volvo group. And we got to hang around afterword and do an extra-curricular 'Ring lap which was worth the trip alone! Some of us have never gotten over our last "R", troubling as it could be at times. But I sold mine to an expat. Swede and he's still in love with it. Worthy candidate for the "fastest station wagon" title, but THIS car looks like it could make me forget my V70R!! BUILD IT! My garage space is waiting!

I like everything about it except the old-school, cumbersome, counter-productive 6-speed manual. Put a Dual-Clutch transmission in it and I'll consider it. Not even worth a look otherwise.
