Yet Another Comparision of Hummer and Prius?

The controversial ‘Dust to Dust’ study by Art Spinella, President of CNW Marketing Research and an auto analyst, had angered many of us. To get a better picture of the issue, I have presented below, the emission levels of both the vehicles and their fuel consumption and fuel economy too. Hope this clears your doubt.

Nice work, Plano. You've almost restored my faith in unbiased journalism. Nah, what am I smoking. I dont know how this supports any of your previous statements or opinions. But I appreciate the good study here.

Try putting in higher gas prices if you're interested in any economic benefit of hybrids, in addition to their ecological benefit. And try it at 10-12 mpg for the Hummer, a little more realistic (or lower on the Prius if you believe you can't get 56).

Gas guzzler tax for SUVs and pickups. Cars already have it. Why not trucks?

Unfortunately, most people fail to see that the CNW study went from vehicle design, through production, use, and then recycling. It is not soley concerned with the benefits given to the consumer. The CNW study measures TOTAL environmental impact. Sure, hybrids are great for the consumer, but the energy required for when battery packs are both manufactured, and recycled at the car's demise creates a net environmental impact that is the same as an H2, and much higher than an H3. The consumer saves with a hybrid vehicle. However, the environment faces the same amount of impact, and actually more than from most vehicles on the road. This fact is easily overlooked as "biased". How can it be? The CNW study was a holistic approach. The comparison above only displays a portion of the life of a vehicle, one that can be used to twist the truth in favor of hybrids to those of feeble mind.

1970toyotamarc- I try to promote and slam both. I will push my opinion, however you always need to see both sides. While I get a bit of criticism from time to time I will always try to show a view of the truth from both sides. I posted a bunch of Toyta articles about the recent recalls, I got a lot of negative comments, however if those that commented had read the articles they would have seen many of the articles were pro Toyota.
