Audi R8 e-tron Clocks An 8:09.099 Around Nurburgring Making It The Fast Production EV Yet
Yes, it’s not the fastest electric vehicle around the Nurburgring, but the Audi R8 e-tron, which goes on sale later this year, has set the fastest lap time around the famous German race track for a production-destined EV.

Racing driver Markus Winkelhock piloted the high-performance, all-electric-drive sports car around the demanding 20.8-kilometer (12.92-mile) track in 8:09.099 minutes.

It beats the 9min1sec mark set by Peugeot with its one-off EX1 concept car back in April. A subsequent attempt by Toyota in an electric powered Radical race car called the TMG EV P001 netted a non-production car Nürburgring lap time of 7mins48sec.

He is correct, but if there are enough Idiots & Poseurs around, then why should audi miss out on the chance of selling them the vehicles they desire ?

It's like the guys selling Wellness Juices and most Homeopathic Remedies, they all know their clients are stupid, but they would be the real idiots if they missed out on a chance to sell them what they wanted.
