Mercedes-Benz Planning To Extend Lead Over BMW In US Sales Race

After ceding the top spot for U.S. luxury car sales for more than a decade, Mercedes-Benz is plotting a comeback with new and updated sport-utility vehicles.

The German automaker said its U.S. deliveries gained 18 percent this year through May, to 106,364 luxury vehicles. That puts Mercedes just ahead of rival Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW), which last year stripped Lexus of the U.S. premium crown that the Toyota Motor Corp.  unit took from Mercedes in 2000.

I have to give it to MB, regardless of reliability issues, ugly designs and throwing money to increase sales (just like everyone else in the auto industry), they are still profiting more per vehicle than most.

Tiguan no point of having an educated discussion with you. I have owned multiple cars brands and never fell in love with any of them. I have liked some more than others but have never been infatuated and obsessed like some of you. Eventhough I am a car enthusiast, I do understand that they are NOT an investment therefore they are not bringing nothing to the table except personal satisfaction. BTW The link is 6 months old and I only wish I would have purchased an S550 instead of my LS. Too much dinero for my taste though.

C'mon Tiguan, are you one of those GEN Ys and younger expecting the goverment to pay for your health care costs, college tuition, solve all your problems and still living at home?
I have busted my tail for years to get where I am today. I attended the ACADEMY and later received an MBA. I have missed numerous birthdays, anniversaries and so on supporting our country for 20+ years. The country has afforded all of us the opportunity to get ahead. Now, I am on my second career and doing well. Life is not as hard as it used to be but it still tough. But this was my choice since I did volunteer for that career which I am extremely proud of it.
BTW The main reason I purchased that car is because I do cater quite a bit to my account holders. I could be as happy driving a GTI but no space.

I like MB but still I do not see them at the top cause most of the cars that MB sold , most of the times are luxury cars, therefore smaller number. In the case of BMW ...most of the cars that they sale are 3 series,(not a bad thing) but If is by numbers....I still think BMW will keep the crown. MB is not as good in small cars as BMW...but also BMW still not as good as MB in luxury cars.
