I figured that they would model the new Corolla after the Yaris.

the model lineup has no identity at all. you all keep bitching about BMW. Look at this (pos) a mix of designs all rolled into one front end. (ive heard mazda, audi.) what else? Rolls Royce? Talk about bad design.... :(

where is that mirror hanging from? the front door? the japs are useless when it comes to design. When i worked for Toyota, they admitted this themselves. "we have engineers that produce great, reliable cars. Design is secondary on our priority list"

First of all this is not Corolla but the Yaris sedan which replaced the ECHO.
There is only 1 information avialble till now of the new Corolla that it will debut in late 2007 as a 2008 Model.Nothing more than that.

Grill lokks like it came from VW/Audi.

I think that it actually looks ok, compared to the other horrible p-shops of the Corrola. BTW, it looks like many companies are "borrowing" Audi/VW grill styling, including the BMW 3 series. All of those BMW lovers who said that no one ever copied Audi are redicuoous, Audi/VW gauges have been copied many times and other styling elements as well.

Wow a huge improvement from the current model. But it shares too many design cues from the Yaris

Wow the way this started I though Toyota was dumping the whole Toyota line, but it is common to have different names for Corollas abroad right? Also as far as many magazines and sources is concerned Toyota did change the time for bringing out the Corolla because of the Civic. It was surprised to find the Civic be so well designed or something.

Jap Audi/VW grill.
It seems that everyone is copying the audi grill. The new BMW has a similar grill, but it is the same color as the rest. The new concept X from Mitsubishi has a audi grill as well. and now toyota. hmmmmmmmmmm

I really thought all the MODERN cars would hang the side mirrors on THE FRONT DOORS? How come you bitching out of this supposedly normal aspect on a car? Maybe you still drive one of those cars which mirrors are placed way up-front on the bonnet? Please make a proper and smart comment, especially when you’re judging a well-known car manufacturers..

Personally, I think this is just a touch-up photo with some wise-guy carved corolla badge on it. Come to think of it, how come the title said Toyota would dump corolla name when –even– the phony picture clearly written corolla? Weird..

Hope they upgraded the engine to a 2.0 liter.

Meanwhile I will have the pleasure to see some nice old Corolla Soon ;)

The Yaris is one of the ugliest cars on the market and it is a cheap looking thing and hopefully they don't make the Corolla sink to that level.

Front end kind of looks like the Mercury Milan. I like the pictures of the Corolla on this article better.
