Happy July 4! Now, Tell Us - What Is The BEST American Car, Ever?
Before we get to the beginning of a damn good question, let's first acknowledge and celebrate the greatest nation's secession from Great Britain. Here Here! We love you plucky Brits, just things didn't work out ;)

While enjoying that BBQ surrounded by your loved ones and watching those fireworks tonight keep in mind what this day's really about.

Please, also remember those in the armed service that continue to make extreme sacrifices to keep the U.S. as glorious as ever.

Now to the car talk.

Though you can say that most publications are "hard on the domestic" automakers, there's a good reason for that. While we've seen some really unexciting products from the domestics, they also produces some of the wildest, most durable and fun-to-drive, engaging products on the road today. The reality is that if we were giving the bad cars "a pass," we'd actually be doing a disservice to them, especially when we know that they CAN make great products. The key is to do it consistently.

Considering that point, I was in downtown New York today at the World Financial Center and when I was making my way -- via ferry -- to the other side of the water, I spotted Lady Liberty in her copper glory. It got me thinking: which American vehicle is the best? Ever?

I am not sure there's a right or wrong answer. Actually, I take that back. If you say the Geo Metro was the best American car you probably should be buried, alive.

Anyway, Spies. Discuss!

The best American cars are undoubtedly Camry and X5 (and X6).

1962 Lincoln Continental 430 sedan hardtop w/ suicide doors. Close to that would be the 1963 Corvette Stingray 427.

Agree on the Dusenburg, add 1912-1915 Stutz Bearcat, 67 Corvette 427, early 60 suicide door Lincoln, 65 Buick Rivera, but the best has to be the Ford GT40 from the 60s and the new Ford GT from the mid 2000s.
