2014 Lexus IS expected to be an evolution, not a revolution
It has become obvious from recent reports that the next Lexus IS would be very different from its current appearance. Peter Evans, a marketing manager at Lexus Australia, said that Lexus can’t just be evolutionary, considering that it’s a challenger brand and is currently at No. 4 in sales

The IS was a very well designed Lexus hopefully they don't mess it up too much.

The problem with this car is that just like the C-Class and regardless of how good they are, they will always end up playing catch up with the 3-Series. Personally, I think its a chick car. I prefer the new GS Sport but that is a little more pricey.

especially the IS250 which is 85% of sales. such a dog of an engine. 8 seconds to 60. woohoo.

Why should the IS and C class trump the 3er? These cars have their own strengths that buyers appreciate. Not everyone wants a sporty ride. In fact the majority of people in this class want something cozy or balanced - and the 3er tends to be very harsh in that regard.

I testdrove a BMW 3er back in the day, didn't like it and ended up buying a Mercedes W203 C230 V6 6-speed. To me it drove better and with that I mean it was better balanced as a comfortable daily driver and sporty weekend car.

Ahh... The Lexus IS. A car so sterile that no one seems to care about it anymore. And this was supposed to be the car that would out-do the BMW 3-series? How did that work out?

...yeah, I think at this point Lexus has to indeed take risks. People are becoming more spirited drivers these days, unfortunately the majority need some additional driver training. They want cars with great road dynamics but most have horrible timming and are very unattentive out of habbit. Anyway, Mr. Toyoda has given the go-ahead to inject both the Toyota & Lexus brands with that so called fun to drive factor. We'll see if he's serious or blowing smoke...

I agree the IS looks like a chick car, while the Infiniti G37 is a guys powerful car. So, the new IS needs to be longer, to match its competitor's size, and performs like the G37, or better. Otherwise it will remain a nice chick car.

G stands head and shoulders above the IS no doubt. though it needs a good refresh. especially inside.

I am pretty sure Lexus is concerned with every vehicle in the IS segment, especially ones that sell better.

An ES? Nah! Might as well get a CAMRY, too many of them on the road plus I can save the difference.

Maybe Lexless can evolve into a Hyundai to improve the product.
