SPIED: Bentley Bringing Its All-New V8 Powerplant To Other Models

This Bentley Continental Flying Spur mule is running the firm’s new 4.0-litre V8 engine. The biggest giveaway is the design of the exhaust tailpipes, which mirror those of the V8-powered Bentley Continental GT and GTC models.

Bentley has confirmed the four-door saloon is running the new turbocharged V8 engine in place of its normal 6.0-litre W12 unit, but stopped short of saying the model would make production.

“As part of our approach to engineering testing, it is normal practice to evaluate engine options,” a Bentley official confirmed. “Whether this will see the light of day in production is something we wouldn’t comment on.”

Isn't the facelift going to be pretty mild like the CGT one? Anyone know when it is due out?

Funny that a certain other British luxury brand isn't making their own engines either. In fact both are using gearboxes that are also available on 30,000 dollar cars. How plebeian of them to do so.

Or perhaps both brands are using the best components they have available.
