Automotive news is reporting:

Mercedes-Benz USA LLC will get a new CEO on Sept. 1. Ernst Lieb, 51, CEO of DaimlerChrysler Australia/Pacific will replace Paul Halata (pictured) in the top Mercedes U.S. post. Halata, CEO since September 1999, will retire, sources say.

This is fantastic news. I can start looking at the Mercedes portfolio again. I vowed never to buy another Mercedes as long as Halata held the top spot in the US. His arrogance and laziness were extraordinary at a time when Mercedes reliability was in the toilet. May he depart for the golf courses and please don't give him any consulting fees after retirement.

This is fantastic news, I can start looking at the Mercedes portfolio anew. I vowed never to buy another Mercedes vehicle as long as Halata held the top spot in the US. I owned three Mercedes vehicles in a row that were dogs.

Halata's arrogance and laziness, when Mercedes reliability was in the toilet, was mind-boggling. May his retirement be as uncomfortable as my own experiences with Mercedes cars earlier in the decade.
