Hot and Bothered - Hyundai’s RWD V8 Flagship Caught Testing!

With Hyundai enjoying solid success with its Sonata and Azera front-wheel drive sedans, the Korean automaker is looking to expand its reach upward to the larger margins in the near luxury segment.

To that end, the next generation Equus, a rear-wheel drive, eight cylinder sedan already available in other markets will debut in the US as a 2008 model. Captured hot weather testing by legendary sniper Hans Lehmann’s crew in the Southwest, the car is likely to continue Hyundai’s penchant for high levels of standard equipment and cut-rate pricing.

The interior reminds me of the Avalon, but looks even cheeper. I am interested in the V8, their last engines have been good. This will be interesting.

I really liked their Equus Concept.Hope with RWD V8 and the Hyndai Flagship model crown on it's head it really look good,with improve quality meterials and reliability when come out.

BTW i really like their Azera and Sonata.They r great cars,with great price tags.

Wow it looks like a Nissan Maxima or Infiniti M. This vehicle could really shake up things in the $30,000 realm.

I was just in Kores 3 weeks ago, the current Equus is the flagship Hyundai, they even have a very long( limo-type) wheelbase model for CEO's. Where the first eqqus was plain scary looking, the current one is not that bad. I think Hyundai is on the right track. What amazed me was that Lexus has become the #1 luxury import in Korea. This is a very status conscious country, just 2 years ago u would see only M-B, BMW, and a couple of Audis, now after the intro of Lexus, the streets are bombarded with Lexi...remember, this is a very anti-Japan country...things are changing

I think Hyundai is going to have a rough time getting into the luxury car business becuase it has a cheap, junk reputation, but if it does get up there, I think it will do well.

Does the exterior, esp the window arches and the rear door/ pillar reminds you of the Altima?
