BMW3W - Wow that sounds like the Audi 2.0T a four cylinder that acts like a six! It is about time BMW woke up and smelled the coffee.

It looks like it, it also uses the exact same technology that Audi has had for couple of years already.

No Chewy, They have "Discovered" new technology through extensive R&D. More like the finally walked into the Audi Showroom and said "Vat dis dees Tuuurbo thingie", and grabbed a brochure.

BMW had turbo before Audi came online. hahaha. :(

chewy and Plano A4......BMW is not using the same turbo technology has Audi. Unlike Audi, BMW will be using their twin turbos at their highest potential. ZERO turbo lag is the key here guys. Something Audi could never achieve. The lag on Audi's turbo engines is unbearable. I know because one of my friends owns the Audi S4. Audi makes good engines but BMW makes great engines. Why do think BMW continues to rake in "engine of the year awards" year after year. I'll make my prediction right here right now. BMW's all new I6 twin turbo will yet again win the "engine of the year award" next year!!!!

I agree with BM3w ... The Turbo Lag on an Audi is borderline ridiculous ... My brother is a mechanic for Audi, and last year for my b-day he took an Audi A6 2.7T as a demo. We raced stop light to stop light in a 2005 loaner 530i ( with the 225 hp version ) and I killed him due to the lag. Only when we did a roll on was it even close .. The BMW will win engine of the year again for it seems like the 8 consecutive year now ... Just like the vanos technology in the 7-series and the 3-series deal... The 3.2l I6 of the M3 ... When was the last time Audi won engine of the year award? Not the interior of the year, cause we all know that is the sole reason that the pro-audi people say that Audi will end up selling more cars in the US than BMW .... BMW is the Ultimate Driving Machine ...

umm.....doesn't the s4 have a naturally aspirated 4.2? so there isn't any turbo lag possible as there is no turbo?

NO the Audi S4 does'nt have a NA 4.2 Liter. Here are the specs for a 2002 Audi S4 . And yes this ride comes with plenty of turbo lag!!

sorry, i didn't know that version of the s4 had that engine. i thought only the 02-05 model had an s4 (which came out in 03), and that is a 4.2.

Good job comparing a 2002 engine with a 2007 engine. That engine didn't have FSI. Hell, why not compare a 1937 engine with the one from today, I know which one is better. Also as I said in the other thread, the BMW 3.0 liter 300 hp will probably have less turbo lag than Audis 2.0 liter 200 hp engine (it doesn't have much) because it is 50 % larger and has 50 % more horsepower.

Claims that Audi "will never achieve turbo-lag free" engines are a bit ridiculous and unfair, don't you think?

I was lucky enough to be driven in a Mercedes S600 (the turbo or twinturbocharged V12 with 590 lb/ft of torque) in Europe and the fellow who owned the car hammered it on a few occassions, to impress me I thought. Well impressed I was. I didn't notice any turbo lag. Granted, I wasn't driving, but the moment he stomped the pedal, the car took off with such brutality, I was slammed deep into the leather seats. It was a fantastic experience.

Anyway, if MB can do this, you bet Audi can too. ;)
