RX450h F Sport May Be Good But Does It Still Fall Short Of The German Benchmarks?

The Lexus RX 450h has been given a mid-life makeover, with fresh styling and improved performance. Plus, the company has added this striking new F Sport model to the range.

The car is aimed at M Sport and S line versions of the BMW X5 and Audi Q7 respectively, and Lexus has sharpened up the looks with a new chrome-edged grille, which has already been seen on the GS and LS.

The F Sport model gets LED headlamps, exclusive dark grey 19-inch alloys and has its own unique aggressive front bumper.

"Striking"? LOL

I think it's funny how Lexus runs these commercials claiming the Germans and Acura are just copying the RX. But now they build this car which is attempting to mirror the driving dynamics of the Germans and Acura.

LOL. The benchmark for what? sleep-inducing driving character? That's why they NEED TO COPY THE GERMANS AND THE ACURA MDX BY CREATING A "SPORTY" RX. LOLOLOLOL. Guess Lexus is tired of old, retired people buying their RX while dynamic, spirited people by the Germans.

The RX has about half the towing capacity of the competitors. Probably doesn't matter to most but at least the others can pretend to be an SUV while the RX is a tall hatchback.

75% of Lexus sales in the US are due to boring cars like the RX and ES which don't excel at anything but neither are they terrible at something. They're good cars, completely plain and boring, great value but they're not competitive in terms of performance and handling. But the buyers of these cars don't care about that. The RX and ES sell because of value and the reputation Lexus has.

Someone who is interested in a European car definitely places a bit more emphasis on visual character and driving character and of course the premium badge.

I've never driven an RX, but I have driven several ES and they're nothing special. Comfortable and quiet. Yes. But that's about it. I honestly wasn't to impressed with the ES. It felt like a more luxurious Avalon, except much more sedated.

For the money the RX450h is by far the best. None of you giving your opinion which is just like your a hole has driven one. The smooth power and torque of the hybrid drivetrain is the smoothest in the industry.
